Introducing the Persevere Tartans

A little backstory…

What would Scottish Tartans look like if they were designed today? What colours and patterns best reflect the modern man while keeping in line with traditional weaving techniques? These are the questions we got to explore while designing our new Persevere Range. Tartan is embedded in Scotland’s national identity and we wanted to honour the tried and true pattern with a contemporary approach in weathered colours that reflect the rural, rugged landscapes of the country we’re lucky enough to call home.

The Design

Buying your first kilt is a rite of passage. We took the stress off choosing from thousands of tartans, and created the Persevere Range, a succinct collection that we feel epitomises tradition meeting modernity. The name Persevere is taken from the District of Leith, Edinburgh, Scotland's motto. You can find it on lamp posts and doorways, serving as a reminder of the spirit of the people and place. It is a nod to the old sea port we are based in, whose colours inspired our designers, and where our founders Emma and Fergus grew both Kilt Society™ and their own family.

We began with the Persevere Flint Grey and built outwards from there. The original Persevere Flint Grey Tartan takes its inspiration from the cobbled streets, rainy days and stormy skies of Edinburgh. It features a subtle flash of purple as an ode to the nature found so close to our city.

We took the Persevere sett design and created a Weathered Brown variation, where we drew endless inspiration from the rugged, rural side of Scotland.

Finally, our Persevere Thistle Blue reflects emblematic Scottish wild flowers like Heather and Thistle, along with the cool tones found in rolling highland munros to create this vivid blue.

A simple, classic Black kilt has also been introduced to Kilt Society™. Dressed up with the Prince Charlie jacket, it becomes streamlined and formal; paired with the Braemar jacket, it's perfect for more casual events.

To match the Essentials range, we designed kids sizes in both kilts and trews in ages 1-12, for celebrating old family traditions, or creating new ones!

Available in the Essentials range of Persevere Tartans is the 8 yard kilts, tartan trews, flashes, and slim fit ties for both adults and kids.

We are proud of this new collection, a range of tartans that are uniquely Scottish and uniquely Kilt Society™. Cheers to traditions old and new, especially when they’re wallet friendly and available for next day delivery!
